The Consumer Electronic Show is widely known for their exhibition floors with rows upon rows of businesses showing off their latest technology. For people attending for the first time or even for show veterans, it is easy to spend the entire time wandering CES’s 1.86 million square feet of exhibition space, instead of finding their company’s fit in the upcoming trends of consumer electronics. Anyone at home can follow CES coverage and decide what future technology they want to integrate with their business plan. However, your advantage is more than experiencing this technology firsthand; it is the access you have to the innovators bringing this tech to market. CES is also a gathering of industry experts and you should make every attempt to hear what they have to say about the year’s upcoming digital landscape before they share it with the public.
How do you find the people you need to talk to out of over 150,000 attendees? Divide and conquer! The strategy I have applied for years is to attend the networking and after-party events that regular attendees fail to add into their show schedule. While there are now several online listings of CES parties, the following events are what we plan to cover and attend.
This blog post will be a living document even while we are in Las Vegas. The majority of CES invites and announcements go out after New Years Eve. All event details are subject to change, even possibly becoming unlisted. Check out our CES 2013 party list below:
Monday January 7th
THIS is the conference for blogging, podcasting, web TV and video, and social business. If you’re coming in to CES on Monday, this is the place to meet web professionals who are also in town for CES.
This gaming focused event is sponsored by Adata, Cyber Power PC, Intel, and Steel Series. We snagged a Steel Series mouse at E3 2012 and it did improve our game. We’ll be at this event checking out the latest in their accessories.

Almost literally the Oscar’s of web television, this event is backed by it’s very own academy. IAWTV Awards have positioned themselves to overlap both NMX and CES.

Don’t be fooled by the term Ageing Technology. This isn’t about obsolete tech but technology developed with our ageing population in mind. If you have been skipping the Digital Health Pavilion at CES every year here is your excuse to check it out. Healthcare consumer electronics now go beyond Fitbit, Kinnect dance games, and Wii Fit. This may lower our chances of winning but they are also giving away jackets and tablets!
MashBash is one of the few party only events that justifies its ticket price every year. Mashable consistently brings in a crowd that you will want to exchange business cards with.
Wednesday January 9th
Cafe Presse in the Venetian
Order by 11:59 December 30th and you can pick up your free cards and coffee at the Venetian
Free for pick up $4 for shipping
Not only are they free Moo cards but they’re limited edition CES Moo cards that say “We met in Vegas”. Having business cards made just for conventions is a networking tactic that we love to do. Here’s your chance to try it out for free! The extra context about what event you met helps you stick out when people organize all of the cards they have gathered.
Monster Cable Party
This year Monster Cable brought Chicago to their event stage so we’re expecting them to bring in another world class act for 2013. Many party list sites are listing this event but ticketing information and a formal announcement have yet to be posted.
Dealer Scope reports that Alicia Keys will be headlining the concert!
SIG executives and Breakthrough Award finalists will be in attendance.
Thursday, January 10th
This is an interesting mix, Kids at Play Interactive awards and a fashion show about wearable technology all in one event.
We are going to be checking out their demos of real time 2D to 3D conversion and their after party. Hotel suite events also have the advantage of being quieter and more intimate for quality conversations.
Tweet House produced the see and be seen event of CES so much so that I picked the lead in photo of this blog post is from last year’s event.
“Open bar, low-key, no work, no hassle, just good friends and stiff drinks.” We’re expecting a lot from an agency named Stunt and Gimmick. They have a lot of buzz going for them between Facebook and Twitter with a lot of lead time before CES. We are keep a close eye on this event.
Friday January 11th
Digital LA has a strong history of quality events both in LA and around major conferences and conventions.
What do you think of our CES 2013 Party List? Is there anything we missed? We’ll be adding more as the date draws closer, so feel free to check this list frequently!
